In Mild, Original or Hot, this Michigan made sauce is one of a kind. It is a vinegar based sauce with a peppery, slightly sweet, slightly barbeque-like taste that locals use for a wide variety of purposes. Great with meats & sandwiches, adds zest and flavor to a bloody Mary, drizzle it over a plate of nachos or serve it with your eggs & hash browns.
Michelle, the sauce should last up to a month in the fridge. I've never had enough of it leftover to really figure out just how long it will last! lolStephen.. this sauce is great on those potatoes! I made them the night I made this and of course, couldn't resist dipping them in the sauce.. it was yummy!!
bob's steak sauce
Hi, I was looking for an alternative steak sauce than what I had in the cabinet (A1), which I have increasing thought is a bit bitter and one dimensional. I tried this recipe and was very impressed - like 57 but better, especially with the pepper flakes that don't overpower but leave you with a tiny bit of heat at the end. Thanks - Rob in SW Ohiops - if you ever get a chance to purchase a steak sauce called Country Bob's, give it a try - I recommend it.
Thanks, Rob - I actually have tried Country Bob's Steak Sauce.. I was fortunate enough to win a contest and there were a bunch of Country Bob's products in the winnings. I will agree with you, it is a great steak sauce!
When I was growing up, I liked to put ketchup and Worcestershire sauce on my steak, much to the consternation of my father and my Uncle Jack. I liked the combination of the tastes of the condiments with the meat. I was never an A1 fan, nor did I care for Heinz 57. But I liked the combination of the sweetness of the ketchup with the tangy bite of the Worcestershire sauce.
As I grew up and my tastes became more refined, I quit putting much of anything on my steaks. A lot of it had to do with the lack of what I thought was a good steak sauce. But I still pined for that ketchup/Worcestershire sauce taste.
A mild epiphany in life happened when I was visiting my brother and sister-in-law in west central Illinois about 12 years ago. We had steak one night for dinner and my sister-in-law, Becky, put this bottle of Country Bob's All Purpose steak sauce on the table. I'd never heard of the stuff before and she said, "Oh, this is the best steak sauce in the world." I tried some and it hit me - this was the combination of ketchup and Worcestershire sauce that I had been looking for! And it was in one bottle! I had to get a bottle to take home with me.
Country Bob's got its start in the late 1960's in Mount Vernon, IL when "Country" Bob Edson came up with a homemade steak sauce that friends and family raved about. After giving it away for nearly 9 years, Edson started to sell the steak sauce in small jars and bottles. It wasn't until 1982 when Country Bob's actually became a company opening a small plant in Irvington, IL. The problem was that Bob Edson didn't know anything about food manufacturing or retailing - he was in the fuel oil business.
The group made a few mistakes along the way, but the learning curve was long and gradual. At first, Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce was sold in small independent rural grocery stores. However, the sauce grew a following and more larger stores began to sell the steak sauce as the independents slowly went out of business. Today, Country Bob's is found in places like Walmart, Kroger, Hy-Vee and other grocery store chains primarily in the Midwest and South.
Bob Edson passed away in 2001 and Terry Edson and Reed Malekovic continue to run the operation today which is now located in Centralia, IL. (Update - Country Bob's opened a new manufacturing facility just south of Centralia where they not only manufacture their sauce lines, but the bottles the sauces go into. They were having trouble with suppliers keeping up with the demand of bottles they needed. The new plant took care of that problem.)
About the only problem I have with Country Bob's is that they wear religion on their sleeves a little too much for me. I'm not a religious person, but I do appreciate the fact that they believe Christ is their "C.E.O". I'm of the opinion that religion - like politics - is not something that should be discussed in public. And it should be left off of steak sauce bottles.
I understand that Country Bob's now has a "spicy" sauce to go along with their original sauce. I don't know if I could handle something more zippy than the original Country Bob's. I might have a serious meltdown in pure joy. I can't wait to find the stuff. I'll be sure to report the results when I do come across it.
I am allergic to BBQ sauce so it would be for my brother of for my fiance they are both BBQ addicts and love it on everything so I am not sure what they would want to put it on first but I know they would enjoy it. Thank you for the giveaway
Choosing a favorite brand of steak sauce can turn into a heated argument. Devoted fans of the most popular steak sauce brands will defend their choices with all their heart. Others will argue that you should never use steak sauce on a high-quality steak.
This tomato-based sauce is versatile and has a tangy flavor. Crystal uses a mix of tomato, distilled vinegar, raisins, corn syrup, orange, lemon, grapefruit, and tamarind to create its unique flavor profile.
While many steak sauces have a similar base and use ingredients like tomato, vinegar, or citrus, each item on this list has a distinct flavor. They all go great on steaks and burgers and complement most other dishes.
Roast, undisturbed, in the center of the oven 4 to 5 hours. At the end of the cooking time, remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes. Pour off juices and combine with 1/2 cup of reserved marinade to make sauce. Boil for 12 to 15 minutes to reduce and thicken. Season with salt and pepper, and whisk in 2 tablespoons soft butter.
Slice brisket across the grain. Garnish a large plate with a combination of tender greens, arrange overlapping slices of brisket on plate and drizzle with sauce. Pass additional warm sauce! Serves 4 to 6.
Uncle Bob's never had a bad steak. Mind you, whenever he's on the road (which is often), this sauce is a constant companion. And while he still receives the odd snide glance from roadhouse waitresses, he still lovingly covers his steaks with this hearty, smoky sauce. It's Bob's version of stop, revive, survive. The Roadhouse Steak Sauce you can use on or off the road. Apart from the perfect marriage with any cut of meat, add it to casseroles or slow cooked dinners. Also guaranteed to lift gravy to new heights.

From cakes to pies to puddings, the after-dinner offerings are just as delectable as the appetizers and entrees. All the desserts are made in-house, meaning they're held to just as high a standard as the restaurant's famous steaks and chops.
If chocolate is your weakness, there are three sweets guaranteed to cultivate a craving. The brownie sundae starts with a peanut butter and chocolate brownie that's then topped with triple chocolate and peanut butter cup ice cream. A pecan chocolate butter nut sauce is drizzled over everything, then crowned with whipped cream and a cherry.
More of a vanilla fan? Get your fill with Bob's classic bread pudding, which is complemented by French silk vanilla ice cream and finished with a Grand Marnier caramel sauce. The crème brûlée is a traditional vanilla custard with a caramelized brown sugar crust that's oh-so-satisfying to crack into.
I love Country Bob's! I know it's an all-purpose sauce, but I use it as barbecue sauce, and I like it better than all other sauces I've tried. It's so good on all of my meat. I also love that they say Jesus is their CEO.
I first tried this product because they give away a full size bottle to try. How awesome is that?!! It gave me the chance to really see if I liked it or not. I loved it. I use it on all kinds of meats now. My husband is an A1 fan but agreed that if A1 is not available that Country Bob's would be his next pick. I like the story behind how it was created. It tastes great. I use it as a marinade and sauce. It is great on the BBQ, in the oven, or on the table. I use it on pork chops, chicken, hamburgers, steaks, ribs, everything!! Excellent all purpose sauce!!
I was so excited to try this that I couldn't wait until it was burger or steak night lol. Well tonight was finally it. Hubby does all the cooking so he made up his hamburgers with his normal routine and seasonings and then I added the Country Bob's sauce to mine when they were ready to eat! No I have got to say that this is not at all what I was expecting. When I think of steak sauce I think of A1 sauce lol. But this was really much better than A1 I think. It was a little sweeter which really blew me away considering it is gluten free (which is a big thumbs up in my book)!! This sauce was awesome. It tasted great and made the burgers taste even better than they normally do. I liked it so much I even dipped my veggies in the sauce that was left on my plate when the burgers where gone lol. This is defiantly recommended by me to try with your next meal. I am going to try this on pork chops tomorrow night and see how it is on there. I like steak sauce on my chops so I bet this will make them even better!! 2ff7e9595c
